P L U F F C A K E S was created from my love of baking, my semi-sweet tooth and mainly because my youngest son was diagnosed with FPIES when he was 6 months old. Teddy is contact-reactive and anaphylactic to all forms of dairy. We also recently found out that our 4.5 year old is also allergic to dairy.
The heart and soul of my home bakery is to offer amazingly delicious cupcakes and cakes that tastes like “regular” cakes. Through trial and error, I began sharing my baked goods with friends who couldn’t believe my desserts were all dairy free. With the support of my husband and the encouragement of friends, I started P L U F F C A K E S. My first thought was to only offer dairy free baked goods but I soon realized there was a greater need for more than just that. Every cupcake and cake from my home bakery comes standard free of dairy, soy, corn and all nuts (including coconuts). I also offer a variety of gluten free and vegan options. Whether avoiding dairy, gluten or eggs is a lifestyle choice or lifestyle necessity, I believe that no one should live without cake! Julia Childs put it best when she proclaimed, “A party without cake is just a meeting.”
Every cake is made from scratch and made-to-order. My style is rustic/bohemian’ish… so think naked cakes, seasonal fresh flowers, fruit and greenery. I do not offer anything made with fondant, sugar paste, gum paste or food dyes. I naturally “color” my cakes/frostings with fresh or freeze dried fruit, vegetables, seeds or herbs.
